​A Wonderful Invitation for 2026

Morena Oasis Family!

This last Sunday I mentioned that this year, is the year of going deeper with Jesus.
We’ve seen the Lord open opportunities and lead the Eldership in a journey towards Oasis being a more intentionally formational church. Focusing on making and being disciples of Jesus.
This year I’m excited by God’s invitation to Oasis into a deeper relationship with Him. ‘Deeper’ requires preparation of the heart, a willingness to go somewhere that isn’t our comfort zone.

When I first met my beautiful wife Laura, I hadn’t done any travelling outside of New Zealand. I felt quite well informed of the world around me due to my love of history and global news, but I felt the Lord challenge me that I needed to get out of my ‘southern comfort zone’ to go and explore the world.
I must admit that first invitation from God to do this did require me to be brave, to step out into a world that was utterly foreign to me, into countries where the language was different, the buildings were different, things were bigger, there were vastly more people and any security I had at home was gone.
That initial adventure around the world was not only a great way to start married life but I learnt so much about God’s faithfulness and desire to bless us.

God’s invitation to our Oasis family this year is the same. Come out of your comfort zone, explore a life in Jesus you never knew you always wanted or that even existed.
If you want to become new, you can. We can put away our old, tired ways that don’t work anymore, give up ‘religion’ and step into a journey with Jesus as our tour guide where He longs to pour His blessings out and, through His Spirit, make us Kingdom folk who reflect the Fathers glory. Yes, at times the journey will feel foreign, it won’t have our old comforts, but the adventure will take you by surprise to new places, deeper places in God.
In preparation, if you’re willing, begin this month by asking God:
 
‘Dad, I hear your call to deeper in Psalm 42, make me thirsty for your depths and your journey, take me on the adventure of Your design.
 This year you have a journey for me out of my comfort zone to places and things I have not seen or known of You.
I’m willing to go and I trust you will keep me safe, lead me in your path with Your son Jesus as my guide’.
Amen.

We’d encourage you, be willing to say yes to the invitation of Jesus for you this year – start to seek Him, ask Him what this is. The journey will look different for each of us.
