When tragedy or something serious happens in the world that all shocks us or takes our attention away there are always opinions offered to give an answer to the question why. To have the time to think about the ‘why’ question is a very western problem to have. A fair portion of the world just accepts that when tragedy strikes either it just happened or perhaps in some way God understands why and that is sufficient, they are too busy getting on with simply existing.
Over lockdown we’ve been looking at the topic of Christianity for grownups. Looking at the journey to maturity we need to have when we take the lessons we learnt at Sunday school and growing the understanding into mature faith.
Most of us could all name someone we know who has walked away from their faith for the wrong reasons. It may have been the way other Christians treated them, it may have been a moral failure, but fundamentally most of the times it’s because they don’t actually see God for who He really is.
